Development in Open Learning in TAFE in 1992. Evaluator of three
national projects in flexible delivery 1998-2000. Regular keynote
speaker at national open learning conferences. Specialist in the
management of change to open learning.
Considered the national leader in the design and management of
educational videoconferencing. Pioneered and managed SA TAFEs
videoconferencing network, Australia's most sophisticated videoconferencing
network, 1990-92. Presented with National Productivity in Educational
Technology Gold Award in 1991.
Consulted to 15 universities and ANTA, OLA, OLTC, NBEET, QLD TAFE,
OTFE, SA TAFE, 1992-2000.
Articles on John Mitchell, his company and its projects, appeared
in Business Review Weekly on 20 November 1995 and in The Australian,
26 March, 2 April and 30 April 1996.
John Mitchell and Associates was established in 1992, initially
specialising in open learning planning and management.
Previous appointment: Manager, Open Learning, SA DETAFE (1990-92)
overseeing open learning developments throughout South Australia.
Prominent in national open learning developments.
Began with TAFE SA in 1974. Worked at 4 metropolitan and 2 country
colleges, including a period as Acting Principal of Light College.
Specialised in the management of change to open learning systems.
Introduced learning centres, College based open learning systems
and a departmental videoconferencing network in TAFE SA.
