In 2001-2002 John Mitchell & Associates is evaluating the Communities
of Practice project conducted by the national staff development
program Reframing the Future.
The role of the evaluator is to identify, through research and
consultation, the processes for establishing VET communities of
practice nationally and document examples of good practice for dissemination.
The consultant will:
- provide an extensive literature review on Communities of Practice
to the participating networks, including an analysis of a theoretical
framework for the establishment of Communities of Practice. Identification
of the attributes of successful Communities of Practice;
- maintain regular contact with the program mentor and the networks
for evaluation purposes;
- develop 5 case studies of the networks and document national
examples of Communities of Practice, for dissemination to those
who may be considering the establishment of the same;
- produce a final evaluation report which will inform directions
and criteria for selection of project in 2002 and, together with
the mentor, a research paper for a VET conference.
