Management development program

JMA Analytics – Management Development Program enables your key management staff to develop new skills in evidence-based decision making. The program helps managers develop skills in:

  • strategic management: integrate data collected within your provider organisations with data collected from outside, to inform a comprehensive understanding of clients
  • managing innovation: use findings from the measurement activities to inform continuous organisational renewal and improvement and to inform the redesign of your products and services
  • managing professional change: use feedback from the measurement activities to inform internal professional development activities.

Example of PD workshop for managers

Following is an example of a workshop we provided - for 100 CEOs, senior staff and VET managers of community colleges in NSW.

Integrating Intuition and Analytics: Learning to be a Complete Strategist

Presentation to Community Colleges Australia - a professional development conference of NSW Community Education Providers, 13 Nov 2009, Sydney NSW

If you are a manager of a training organisation, the future of your organisation could depend on your ability to develop new strategies. These strategies are needed to meet the unprecedented challenges generated by the global financial crisis and other external forces on the sector such as policy moves towards making more VET funding competitive.

Hence, the key challenge for leaders and managers is to continue developing as strategists. But what does that mean?

John Mitchell’s research shows that the big problem is that managers often rely too much on gut instinct and intuition. And if they use statistics, they struggle to link the stats to the intuition. The two approaches are not synchronised.

And the bigger gap is on the side of analytics.

This session will provide you with the initial rationale and framework for your future learning – to become the complete strategist, able to coordinate your intuitive knowledge with the newly emerging and exciting field of analytics. Then it is over to you to continue your learning.
